Nichrome wire by determining its resistivity Essays

Nichrome wire by determining its resistivity Essays Nichrome wire by determining its resistivity Paper Nichrome wire by determining its resistivity Paper Metals have low resistance due to their delocalized field of electrons. However, different metals have different values of resistance. In this experiment, the students were given a spool of Nichrome wire to determine its diameter. Nichrome, as the name suggests, is an alloy of Nickel, Chromium and Iron.  The resistance of a conductor depends on its inherent resistivity (Ï ), length (l) and its cross-sectional area (A). The resistance is given by the following formula (#1): . Where, R = Resistance (à ¢Ã‚ ¦)  Ã = Resistivity (à ¢Ã‚ ¦.m)  l = length (m) and,  A = cross-sectional area of the conductor.  To determine the cross-sectional area of the wire, the diameter was first determined using a micrometer screw gauge. The formula (#2) that relates the diameter to the cross sectional area of the wire is:  The electrical resistance can be determined by an ohmmeterlength, using a ruler, and the resistivity was determined by the literature value of 1.25Ãâ€"10-6 à ¢Ã‚ ¦.m.[1] Substituting the literature value for Nichrome’s resistivity () and formula #2 into formula #1, the following equation can be obtained: This equation can graphically represented by l on the y-axis and R on the x-axis. The gradient would then give the value for which could then be manipulated to extract the value of d. A simple circuit was set up with the Nichrome wire as the resistor. For different sets of data, the length of the Nichrome wire was altered by making only a fraction of the full wire part of the circuit. A ruler was used to measure the length of the wire part that was part of the circuit and an ohmmeter was used to identify the resistance of the circuit. Five trials were taken for five different lengths to obtain a reliable, wide range of data. Safety Precautions:  1. Precaution was taken so that the Nichrome wire would not hurt the finger.  2. Precaution was taken to make sure there were no fire hazards due to short-circuit.  3. Precaution was taken to make sure that no injury was caused because of electrocution due to careless behavior.  RAW DATA COLLECTION:  The resistance of the circuit for different lengths were collected as raw data and are tabulated below:  Therefore, using the ‘resistivity’ method, the diameter of the Nichrome wire is identified to be 0.053  ± 0.001cm. CONCLUSION AND EVALUATION: As it can be seen from the total uncertainty calculation, the experimentally deduced value of the diameter of the Nichrome wire was accurate to a large extent. In fact, the literature value provided by the manufacturer†¦ The difference†¦Ã‚  The r2 value for the line of best is 0.9956 which shows excellent linear correlation between the resistance and the length of a conductor, confirming the equation However, the minor noticeable distance between the average slope and the minimum and maximum slopes is due to the increasing uncertainty in the measurement of the length. The uncertainty, however small, cannot be ignored and they must be explored so that if possible, they can be avoided in the future. Firstly, the recording of the length of the Nichrome wire was no so accurate because of the uncertainty in the ruler and its inability to measure all the lengths at one go. A longer ruler or a measuring tape could be used to avoid these kind of easily avoidable errors. Another problem was that the wire was often crooked at some places and straightening it could have caused it to crack so they were not completely straightened. In fact, the wires were looped around several bobs and the distance between the bobs were measured to give an accurate estimate of the length of the wire. Another issue that arose due to the usage of the bobs was that it was difficult to measure the length of the wire that was used to complete the loop around the bob. A possible workaround both these problems can be to use a thread to run along the Nichrome wire and then measure the thread to determine the length of the Nichrome wire used. Another limitation to the procedure of the experiment is the assumption of the electrical resistivity of the Nichrome wire. The actual range is 1.00 to 1.50 (Ãâ€"10-6 à ¢Ã‚ ¦.m) but the median, 1.25 was assumed. There is no possible way to tell the exact electrical resistivity without knowing the exact composition of the wire and this is because resistivity is a property that is specific to the composition of the conductor and slight changes in the composition can produce significant changes in the value for the resistivity of the conductor. Depending on the manufacturer’s label for the diameter is accurate but often these values are rounded off to suit the gauge number of the wire. For example, if a 2AWG wire requires a 10mm diameter, most manufacturers will label even a 9.8mm to be 10mm because of their own economic benefits. Therefore, the most accurate way would be use a micrometer screw gauge to measure the diameter of the wire at different locations and then match the experimental value obtained from this experiment against the average of the micrometer readings. This way, dependence on secondary data is minimized and a higher level of confidence can be displayed in the readings.

Knowin When to Hold em

Knowin When to Hold em Now I’ll be the first to admit I don’t know a thing about poker. If Kenny Rogers hadn’t sung â€Å"The Gambler†, I wouldn’t even know about holdin’ and foldin’. But one thing I do know, there’s a time to submit my works and there’s a time to â€Å"hold† ‘em. And I know that because I came close to lettin’ go at the wrong time. Twenty and excited about entering a radio station’s poetry contest, I rushed through the rules, eager to start writing. All night I lost myself in the narrator, an elderly lady on her porch reliving memories. I chuckled watching the children grow from playing to courting on the porch, I cried seeing the now-empty porch, and rejoiced picturing future reunions on the porch. The next morning, ready to mail my entry, I read the rules again and froze. I’d overlooked â€Å"Whether or not your poem wins, it will become the property of the radio station.† Whoa! With little chance of winning, I could never submit my poem anywhere else or use it myself? Disappointed, I slipped it in a drawer where it stayed for 15 years until I resigned as college professor to enter full time the field of writing and speaking. For my first tour, I retyped the poem on a more modern typewriter and had 100 copies made on plain white paper.  The first evening, in costume as story teller, I quoted a bit of the poem and following as myself, mentioned it would be available afterward. I’d laid out 25 copies with a sign, â€Å"Poems: Donation of any size† and while greeting folks heard a yell, â€Å"Go get more poems!† Already all 25 had sold! I hurriedly brought in 25 more only to hear in another few minutes, â€Å"Go get the rest of the poems!† Except for two to use for copying along the way, all had sold. It was the same each place on the two-week tour. Back home I chose a ream of quality buff-colored faux parchment paper and learned if I’d wait a few days until the store used dark brown ink, the printing could be done commercially for less money. From then on, whether driving or being flown I’ve taken the poems, although Folks want to take something home from an event but not everyone can buy our books or DVD’s. Smaller printed or craft items make buying possible for those who can’t and lagniappe for those who can. (Lagniappe [lan’ yap], an oft-used term here in Southeastern Louisiana meaning â€Å"a little something extra†.) If I’d entered that early contest and won, I’d have received eight copies of a cheap magazine with few readers. BUT, Glad I decided â€Å"No† to â€Å"sold† and â€Å"Yes† to â€Å"hold†!

Profile of a Member of Congress Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words

Profile of a Member of Congress - Research Paper Example He and his wife Katherine have been married over thirty years, have two children and grandchildren, and attend Grace Episcopal Church in Jacksonville. Crenshaw is a fairly typical member of Congress: he is white, Protestant, and wealthy (â€Å"Representative† n.d.; Tannahill 249; â€Å"Biography† n.d.). Before procuring what The Washington Post calls a â€Å"safe Republican seat† in the House of Representatives in 2000, Crenshaw had a â€Å"rollercoaster political journey† as a member of both houses of the Florida state legislature (â€Å"Ander Crenshaw† n.d.). He has spent most of his career in politics; he was a member of the Florida State House of Representatives from 1972 to 1978. After three failed attempts at statewide office, he returned to the state legislature as a state senator in 1986 and stayed until 1994. His long period of political service, beginning shortly after graduating from college, most certainly makes Crenshaw a career politic ian. Crenshaw calls himself a â€Å"third-generation resident of Northeast Florida† (â€Å"Biography† n.d.), and that is the district he represents in the House of Representatives. The 4th Congressional District of Florida consists mostly of the Jacksonville, the largest city in the state. 78 percent of the district is urban. It is strongly conservative, with 62 percent of the voters going for Senator John McCain in the 2008 Presidential race. The district, much of its geography situated along the northern Florida coast, is also strongly pro-military. Crenshaw is a strong supporter of defense issues, and as his webpage states is â€Å"a champion for our men and women in uniform.† He supports veterans’ rights and has worked to establish Mayport Naval Station in Jacksonville a nuclear aircraft carrier homeport. Anders serves on the House Appropriations Committee, and as a member of that committee, serves on two subcommittees, the Subcommittee on Military Co nstruction and Veterans Affairs and the Subcommittee on State and Foreign Operations. He has chaired the Legistlative Branch Subcommittee and is a past member of the Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee. Since 2003, he has been Deputy Whip and has worked to help mobilize Republican members for key legislative votes (â€Å"Biography† n.d.). His work on these committees and subcommittees has mostly been focused on procuring and retaining funding for military installations and for the support of veterans’ benefits in Northeast Florida (â€Å"Ander Crenshaw† n.d.) In 2006, as member of the House Budget Committee, Crenshaw was chairman of the Republican Budget Task Force, a group that worked on budget issues that attempted to â€Å"rein in federal spending† (â€Å"Crenshaw† 2006). In 2010, Crenshaw raised $554,327 for his campaign, close to the half a million dollars average spent by Congressional campaigns last year. His opponent, Independent Troy Stanley, raised $15,799 (â€Å"Total Raised† n.d.). About half of Crenshaw’s campaign funds came from individuals and half from political action committees (PACs), although PACs made up the majority of his largest contributors. His top three contributors were WW Gay Mechanical Contractor, AT&T, and BAE Systems, all of which contributed $10,000 each. Crenshaw did not personally contribute anything to his campaign (â€Å"Representative,† n.d.) In 2010, Crenshaw essentially ran unopposed, winning 77%

Retention Intervention Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Retention Intervention - Essay Example To counteract a high turnover rate, a set of retention techniques can be used to avoid/resolve conflicts and improve the company image. Retention means retaining those employees who share the company values and fit with the company profile. When staff retention is a program, a workforce development program can be initiated. An organization cannot survive if its top performers quit. Loyal and dedicated workers are needed if the company’s strategic objectives are to realized. The management must retain valuable employees in order to ensure the long term success of the company. An employee who spends a longer duration with an organization becomes more familiar with its rules and guidelines and has less adjusting issues. This can save the company valuable time it will otherwise have to spend on training and helping adjust new recruits. Whenever an employee resigns, it is the responsibility of the HR to intervene and find the cause of resignation. There can be many reasons for a resignation which includes lesser salary, lack of growth, negative ambience etc. The primary role of the HR is to keep track of any trends or patterns which may emerge in resignation data which suggest that there is a problem for the employees. In order to ensure that the retention issue and resignation does not arise in the first place, the recruitment of the right candidate by the HR department is necessary. The HR department should recruit people who fit the company profile. It is enticing to hire a person by forcing him to stay for a lesser salary but this is a bad tactic. The person might stay for some time but will eventually leave. The recruitment process therefore should be tailor made to ensure the right people are hired who won’t cause a retention problem to arise in the first place. There are many retention techniques that an HR department can undertake. These include the launch of motivational

2014-2015 Mock trial Starter kit Essay Example for Free

2014-2015 Mock trial Starter kit Essay Would you please introduce yourself to the court room? Hello, my name is Jordanus Asterion (Hordanus Astrion) What do you do for a living, Mr. Asterion? I am an attorney How long have you been an attorney? Well I practiced for about 20 years, then I had a bit of a mishap but now I’m back to practicing, heck I got my biggest case ever just this year! This miss hap, what happened? It all started back in 2012, it was one drink then I was hooked, I was jobless, homeless, and recently divorced. I was living on the streets, in parking garages, or where ever I could. But, after the incident, I sobered up, got my law license reinstated, and got back together with my family. Are you referring to the death of cervus carona? Yes. Can you tell the jury what you saw? Well my dog woke me up and I saw the samurai group at the parking garage I was sleeping in. there were two people running up the stairs, I immeadtly recognized lang tigris, and the other person, I now know as cervus carona. They were arguing about something, I couldn’t tell what, but when they got (I can’t find what story) story cervus got physical, he pushed lang against the wall†¦. Well†¦ then it happened†¦ What are you referring to Mr. Asterion? See more: Defining research problem and setting objectives Essay Well the force of the push made both people bounce, and lang bounced and that gave cervrus a little more momentum†¦ then†¦ well cervus fell†¦ he fell out of the window. Did you observe anything after that? Yea, lang†¦ he was just calm†¦ and still†¦ it seemed like he was in shock.\ (I want to ask a opinion on the ultimate issue question, but I don’t know how to word it) This is just an issue of bad timing, cerverus push lang just a little to hard in the wrong place at the wrong time, and well now were here. Anything about criminal investigation on direct, object to 4.18.3 lack of proper predicate, 602 lack of personal knowledge, 703 opinions by experts You have a Bachelor’s of Science from Texoma University, don’t you? Yourdegree is in Accounting, isn’t it? You also have a Master’s degree from the Enron Hubbard Institute, don’t you? This degree is in Forensic Accounting, isn’t it?  Neither of your degrees make you eligible to work in Law Enforcement, do they? Neither of these degrees are law degrees, are they?  You have never worked as an on-staff employee of any law enforcement agency, have you? So you do not have formal expertise in criminal justice, do you? Nor do you have any educational background in criminal justice, do you? So you cannot render any expert opinions regarding the alleged criminal activities of my client other than those relating to the accounting of Argo Navis, Inc., can you? You know that both my client and Cervus Corona were attempting to sell the company, don’t you? You know that the company was worth somewhere between $2- and $200 million dollars, don’t you? (if brought up) and Lang could only receive a maximum of 2 million from life insurance You know that $75,000 dollars had been stolen from the accounts of Argo Navis, don’t you? This is the only questionable accounting you found in the Argo Navis accounts, isn’t it? And you have no conclusive evidence tying this singular piece of criminal activity to my client, do you? Beauty and the beast, price, cursed, ugly, villagers thought he was evil that was an act of prejudice May it please the court, your honor, opposing counsel, member of the jury. We all know the story of beauty and the beast, the beast was a handsome prince, who was cursed by a witch to become and evil looking monster. He was slandered, tormented and persecuted by the villagers all because of a prejudice they had towards him. Hello, my name is Nate K. I am a representing the state of texoma in today’s case. Today the prosecution holds the burden of proof, which means that if, you have a single doubt of guilt in your mind, then the defendants is innocent. Like in the beauty and the beast, the villagers, or in this case, the prosecutions witness, we presume, will attempt to slander the beast, Lang Tigris. Malus testudao will attempt to tell you he saw the altercation, but in reality he didn’t have vantage point where he could see it. Next, we presume that felis vela will  take the stand, she will tell you about how 75 thousand dollars was stolen for the company, but no one know who took it. She will also explain that the company was worth more than the money than Lang Tigris got from the life insurance. She will also give you opinions that no ability to give. Finally, limax Grus will take the stand, we believe that he will testify about the crime scene, which was not treated properly. He will also tell you about the witnesses he improperly interviewed and detained. And he will also explain that he left out an eye witness. Next we will call three witnesses. Jordanus Asterion will explain that he had a great view point of the entire altercation, and how Cervus corona began the fight, and how e fell as a result of ricochet. He explain that even though he was eyewitness, limax gruss did not interview him. Next Ares Vega will testify, he will explain to you that the Lima Grus did not control the crime scene, he also did not properly detain the witnesses, and furthermore he did not even question an eye witness. Finally, lang tigris will take the stand. He will explain that the business relationship was perfect, then Cervus began to bulk up, and he became aggressive, all lang did was try to please him, then the day of the altercation, Lang said something, he told cervrus he needed to calm down and become a team player. Cervrus said that lang was just riding his caot tails, and at that point, lang asked him about steroids, which put cerverus over the edge. He will explain that later that day they met, by chance, at the samurai class. Cervrus was aggressive and physical with him, then, it happened. Cerverus pushed lang and rebounded off the glass through the wall. Ladies and gentlemen, please don’t allow the villager to kill the beast, after he is inncocent.

Feminist Bashing of Tennessee Williams and A Streetcar Named Desire :: Feminism Feminist Women Criticism

A Streetcar Named Desire and the Gay Roots of Feminist Straight Bashing  Ã‚     Ã‚   Tennessee William's A Streetcar Named Desire is widely considered the highest achievement of 20th Century American theatre. Stanley Kowalski is a symbol of the heterosexual male. Significantly this male icon is portrayed as a rapist. In 1947, Tennessee Williams (through Blanche DuBois) also describes Stanley as "sub human," a term that would inspire outrage if it had been used against Jews, blacks, women or gays. The play is a good example of how Williams, a homosexual, contributed to the "modern malaise" by undermining the legitimacy of heterosexual males, females and the family. Williams' complex motives may explain the motivation of feminists today. Homosexuals have suffered persecution. This doesn't automatically elevate them morally nor immunize them from political criticism. Personally, I believe in live-and-let-live. That's why I wasn't prepared to discover that homosexuals, in particular, lesbian feminists, are not so tolerant of heterosexuals like myself. They are conducting a vicious attack on heterosexual institutions that society no longer can afford to ignore. Currently the attack comes from the feminist movement, which is led by lesbians. In "The New Victorians"(1996), Rene Denfeld documents how feminists are no longer concerned with equal opportunity, but are dedicated to transforming heterosexual society. Heterosexuality is regarded as the root of all oppression and homosexuality is seen as the remedy. "For many of today's feminists, lesbianism is far more than a sexual orientation, or even a preference. It is, as students in many colleges learn, an ideological, political and philosophical means of liberation of all women from heterosexual tyranny†¦" In their ruthless quest for power, feminists behave like Marxist zealots, quietly infiltrating the education and legal systems, government bureaucracy and media. They institute quotas that give women preference in education and employment regardless of merit, regardless that women may already be over represented. They display a cult-like, totalitarian attitude to dissent, refusing to debate, suppressing free speech and slandering people who hold opposing views. It may seem absurd that gays and lesbians who represent about four per cent of the population should attempt to transform society. Of these only a minority is promoting these goals. But these activists have used specious guilt tactics to capture the moral high ground. With the complicity of the media and politicians, they wield power way out of proportion to their numbers.

List specific examples to support your assessment. The assessment is dysfunctional and poorly structured. The reason for this is no one is on the same page. They cannot work as a group. They let their personal issues get in the way of making dissensions for the company. B. What is your assessment of Charlie Moor's effectiveness as the leader of his team? Provide specific examples that support your assessment. CharlieMoor's effectiveness is not working for him nor the company. The reasons are he is not a forceful manager like they had in the past. He cannot decide on the best results for the company based on information that is provided to him. He cannot keep his employees at bay. C. What should Charlie do to move the team toward a consensus on the immediate problems facing the company? Give specific examples of actions Charlie should take. Charlie should make the final decision based on the information he has been given. He needs to find a way to cut expenses and develop a better ope rating procedure while introducing new mix-in flavors of ice cream.D. What could Charlie do to improve the performance of the team in the future? Give several examples. Charlie could involve his team with more decision making based on the business issues. The examples for this would be to have weekly meetings with each department and weekly group meeting so that all departments are on the same page and up to date on what is going on with the company at the present time. Charlie can also send out monthly news letters to all employees and encourage everyone to summit their opinion on how to make the company better no matter their position.

D.A.R.E. Report Essay

While participating with D.A.R.E., I learned that drugs and alcohol are not good for you. I also learned that tobacco and alcohol and any other drug can hurt different parts of your body. Marijuana causes breathing problems, short term memory loss, slows coordination and reflexes, and effects ones ability to judge distance, speed and reaction time. Marijuana can become addictive and is illegal in the United States. Smoking tobacco has over 200 unknown poisons in the smoke, and contains nicotine which is very addictive. By not doing drugs is important because if you do drugs you will hurt your body. It is also important because sometimes you have to have surgery and in some cases you can die. Smoking and drugs can hurt a newborn baby. Alcohol slows down the brain and body and causes loss of coordination, poor judgment and loss of self-control, which could lead to serious accidents involving a car and someone innocent can be injured. I feel that everybody should not do drugs. Everyone always have to make wise decisions about what you do with drugs and alcohol. As a participant in D.A.R.E., I will not participate in or associate myself with anyone that is involved in drugs. I will follow all five D.A.R.E. rules and remain a respectable citizen.

Fall of rome essays

Fall of rome essays The Roman Empire is possibly the greatest Empire ever in the history of the world. For over a thousand years the Romans ruled and dominated the area around the Mediterranean as well as most of what is now Europe as well as Asia Minor or the Middle East. In Rome was found one of the wealthiest and most extravagant cultures in the world, Rome for a while also had a great system of government and a great military. The collapse of Rome did not happen quickly, in fact it never really died just the idea of an Empire did. For most of its history the governing body of Rome was a republic where the wealthy dominated the important decisions. Struggle always surrounded from lesser class people or Plebeians attempting to gain political equality and power. The culture became more garbage and the leaders became corrupt and power hungry. As the Empire expanded more money came in and the wealthy benefited from it, while farmers and workers began to fall into poverty. A greater class of plebeians became prevalent and when the demanded equality they were massacred and forgotten about. This lead to turmoil and civil wars for a very long time until Julius Caesar made reforms and changed the system of government, this fell apart after his murder and lead back to civil wars and the inevitable fall of the empire. After the Golden age there were constant struggles for power, at one point there were 26 emperors in a 50 year period, which can bring no stability at all. People fought and killed others for the throne. The economy struggled badly throughout this whole period and measures were taken to try to bring back the power and prominence of the early Empire, this even lead to Emperor Diocletian splitting the empire into two halves. The eastern empire was prosperous and the reforms of the emperors Diocletian and Constantine provided some stability however there were more problems to come. Constant invasions by The Huns as well as pers ...

Usman dan Fodio and the Sokoto Caliphate

Usman dan Fodio and the Sokoto Caliphate In the 1770s, Uthman dan Fodio, still in his early 20s, began preaching in his home state of Gobir in Western African. He was one of the many Fulani Islamic scholars pushing for the revitalization of Islam in the region and the rejection of allegedly pagan practices by Muslims. Within a few decades, dan Fodio would rise to become one of the most recognized names in nineteenth-century West Africa. Hijra and Jihad As a young man, dan Fodios reputation as a scholar grew quickly. His message of reform and his criticisms of the government found fertile ground in a period of growing dissent. Gobir was one of several Hausa states in what is now northern Nigeria. There was widespread dissatisfaction in these states, especially among the Fulani pastoralists from whom dan Fodio came. dan Fodios growing popularity soon led to persecution from the Gobir government, and he withdrew, performing the hijra- a migration from  Mecca to Yathrib- as the Prophet Muhammad had also done. After his hijra, dan Fodio launched a powerful jihad in 1804, and by 1809, he had established the Sokoto caliphate that would rule over much of northern Nigeria until it was conquered by the British in 1903. Sokoto Caliphate The Sokoto Caliphate was the largest state in West Africa in the nineteenth century, but it was really fifteen smaller states or emirates united under the authority of the Sultan of Sokoto. By 1809, leadership was already in the hands of one of dan Fodios sons, Muhammad Bello, who is credited with solidifying control and establishing much of the administrative structure of this large and powerful state. Under Bellos governance, the Caliphate followed a policy of religious tolerance, enabling non-Muslims to pay a tax rather than try to enforce conversions. The policy of relative tolerance as well as attempts to ensure impartial justice helped earn the state the support of the Hausa people within the region. The support of the populace was also achieved in part through the stability the state brought and the resulting expansion of trade. Policies toward Women Uthman dan Fodio followed a relatively conservative branch of Islam, but his adherence to Islamic law ensured that within the Sokoto Caliphate women enjoyed many legal rights. dan Fodio strongly believed that women too needed to be educated in the ways of Islam. This meant he wanted women in the mosques learning. For some women, this was an advance, but certainly not for all, as he also held that women should always obey their husbands, provided that the husbands will did not run counter to the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad or Islamic laws. Uthman dan Fodio also, however, advocated against female genital cutting, which had been gaining a hold in the region at the time, ensuring that he is remembered as an advocate for women.

The Impact of Immigration Law to the HR Field Research Paper

The Impact of Immigration Law to the HR Field - Research Paper Example President Obama’s immigration executive action will lead to significant changes in the wage structure of the US labor market that will demand the attention of HR planners and recruiters for a smooth transition. Various organizations and think tanks interested in the US immigration debate have given their analysis and forecasts on the potential impact of the president’s executive action on the US labor market. According to the Council of Economic Advisors estimates, the executive actions by President Obama are projected to raise the average wages of native-born American citizens by 0.3% (or $170 in today’s dollars) over the coming 10 years. The CAP estimates that wages will increase by an average of 8.5% over the next one year for individuals who will be eligible for new and deferred action (Center for American Progress). These wage gains will be driven by the potential eligibility for work permits, better job matches in the market as well as a reduced probability of being taken advantage of being employers. The FPI, on the other hand, estimates a 5 to 10 percent increase in wages over the next five years for the projected 5 million workers who will be expected to gain work authorization through the president executive's expanded deferred action (Garcia, 2013). The NAID Center approximates that the deferred action on 3.8 million undocumented immigrants could raise labor income by as much as $ 7.1 billion in the order’s first two years of implementation (â€Å"Executive Action†, 2014).

System Feedback Loops Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words - 2

System Feedback Loops - Essay Example The environment in which organizations operate is not only complex but driven by numerous factors that define the competitive strengths and strategic plans of the business. These factors include the market competition, their strategic approach, customer expectations, preferences, research and development capabilities, economic, political and social aspects driving market trends, and technology know-how that involve new product ideas, techniques, and innovation (Smith, 2001). One of the biggest challenges faced by any organization operating in such environmental conditions is the ability to adapt to the needs of the changing market environment and the capability to harness its resources in the desired direction to achieve defined goals. Competitive strengths and advantages are developed by organizations through a deeper understanding of market driving forces and constant efforts in the direction of enhanced performance and productivity. Human resources play a vital role in helping the organizations achieve the defined goals and targets. A key aspect driving the performance of human resources is employee learning and skills development (Uslar & Prof Norbert, 2007). The paper explores the different dimensions of a learning organization through a study of feedback loops and its application within Industrial Services of America Inc (ISA). The market shares of the company have gone up steadily with the company focusing on delivering high quality products at competitive prices. However, the competitive industry environment offers distinctive challenges in the form of constant focus on product quality and innovative products to retain its market shares. Firms are finding it difficult to maintain pace with the rapid changes taking place in technology and need to adopt innovative work practices to launch new and improved product designs (Nowotny, 2006). ISA’s focus in such a scenario
